Causes of Breast Sag
“Constricted breasts” or “Tuberous breasts”
When it comes to breast sag, it doesn’t matter what your age is; the condition can even been seen in teenagers. Depending on the shape of the breast, mal-development can be a factor that leads to sag early in life. When the breast is so narrow that it can’t support its own weight on the chest wall, it will end up sagging if it does not develop adequate width.
Aging is the number one cause of breast sag. Naturally, the breast tissue will descend down the chest the older and older you get. By getting a breast lift, you can reverse this effect.
During pregnancy, the ligaments responsible for supporting the breasts are stretched due to the breasts becoming fuller and heavier. Regardless of whether you breastfeed or not, after pregnancy, your breasts will most likely sag and not be as perky as they used to be.
Dramatic weight gain can also cause breasts to sag. Changes in your weight puts stress on the skin around your breasts that give them their firmness. The proteins collagen and elastin can become worn out with the weight gain or even extreme weight loss. When they become stretched out, the resulting sagging is usually permanent and can be reversed only through a breast lift.
Unfortunately, you can also inherit poor elasticity of the skin, making sagging even more of a possibility.
Different Types of Breast Sag
There are many different forms of breast sag just as there are many different body types. One of the most primary ways to gauge the sag is to determine the relationship between the nipple and the inframammary fold (IMF), which is the fold located beneath the breast. Sag gradually gets worse as the nipple falls further below the IMF:
1.At the IMF
2.Below the IMF
3.Below the IMF and the nipple is the lowest part of the breast
4.Below the IMF, but the nipple stays above the IMF
Breast sag is most troublesome when both the nipple is below the IMF and is also the lowest part of the breast.
