Breast Implants
Breast augmentation is a popular option for women who want to increase their bust for a number of reasons. Colloquially known as “implants,” augmentation is the most popular procedure we offer at Pacifico Plastic Surgery, so know that you’re not alone!
Many women assume that implants will make a drastic increase in the size of their breasts. While that’s certainly possible, it’s not the norm. Most women increase their bust by one or two cup sizes to help themselves feel a bit more confident, and to be able to fit into their favorite clothes better. Many women also undergo implant procedures after having children to eliminate sagging, or to counteract the deflation that can occur post-breastfeeding.
Whatever your reason for undergoing a breast augmentation procedure may be, know that you’re in the best hands possible. That’s why women from all over Brooklyn, Staten Island and New York and New Jersey at large come to us.
What are your options?
Saline: Saline implants are named as such because they are filled with medical-grade sterilized salt water. One reason why they’re so popular is because they offer a very natural look and feel.
Silicone: Silicone implants are similar to the saline option, except rather than salt water, they are filled with silicone gel. Silicone feels a lot like breast tissue, and these types of implants will never collapse—even if a leak occurs (which is rare).
Form-Stable: Commonly known as “gummy bear implants,” form-stable implants keep the same shape even in the event of a break.
FAQs
How long do implants last?
That depends on the person and the type of implant. In general, saline implants last about 20 years, and silicone implants last about 25 years. Keep in mind, no two patients are the same, and neither are their implants.
Can you make me look like person X, Y or Z?
If you like the results that your friend or a celebrity achieved from her breast augmentation procedure, keep in mind that it’s unlikely that we can make yours look exactly the same. Every woman has unique physical attributes, all of which factor into her end result. However, when we make a plan for you, we’ll factor in your physical attributes to give you a final result that suits your body specifically, making you look and feel as beautiful and confident as you deserve to be.
Which type of implant is the best?
No one kind of implant is better than another per se. We’ll make a recommendation based on your specific needs. We’ll factor in your desires and body type when determining what material is best for you. For one woman, silicone may be her best bet, while for another woman, saline is the way to go.
Do silicone implants cause disease?
No, that is a myth. Scientific testing has concluded that silicone implants do not cause any diseases.
How bad will my scar be?
It shouldn’t be noticeable at all, but that will take work on your end. We’ll help you make a scar management regimen, but it’s up to you to follow through with it. Many women are nervous about the scar, but as long as you’re diligent it won’t be an issue.
